I know this should not be a problematical area but people still open attachments that they should not be opening. Why this is so I am not sure because from the very beginnings of viral epidemics, security experts have implored us to not open certain attachments.
I will give you an example. In a recent article on CNET, entitled, "That e-mail attachment is not a Twitter invite",) Symantec warned about a mass-mailing worm that comes in an attachment pretending to be a Twitter invite. "The observed messages appear as if they have been sent from a Twitter account; however, unlike a legitimate Twitter message, there is no invitation URL present in the body," a Symantec blog post says. "Instead, the user will see an attachment that appears as a .zip file that purportedly contains an invitation card." The worm gathers e-mail addresses from compromised PCs and spreads by copying itself to removable drives and shared folders.

Obviously, folks keep falling for these ploys. Thus, Larry's 2 Rules for Handling Attachments. - DO NOT under any circumstances open up an attachment from someone you do not know! DON'T DO IT!
- Before opening an attachment from someone you know, make sure it is really coming from him or her. Emails are easily spoofed so make sure that the sender is really your friend. You should actually ask them if they sent you something, if you suddenly receive something unexpectedly.
